One of our customers has an older Mooney and wanted to update a couple of items in the panel with a priority on keeping the costs low. They had decided on a Stratus Transponder for ADS-B in/out and an Aspen Evolution PFD. Like many of these older aircraft, the panel was pretty crowded with old wiring and od instruments that make everything a challenge to get to as well as difficult to do an install that would be reliable for years to come. This often requires us to remove quite a bit of old wiring and hoses and replace them with updated (shielded) wire and more modern clamps to secure things properly. We tied the Garmin 430W into the Aspen to unlock more features and since this Aspen is the Pro model we needed the GPS to unlock the Synthetic Vision features as well. This won’t be a long post (not that any of mine are) but after the work was done I wanted to share a picture.
